Genital reconstruction technique

Corporoplastia / Clitoroplastia

A surgical technique developed by Prof. Dr. Ubirajara Barroso Jr. to reshape erectile structures in selected genital reconstruction situations.

The technique is indicated following individual assessment of anatomy, tissue condition and reconstructive goals. Planning aims to make the required correction while preserving, whenever possible, structures important to function, sensation and blood supply.

01What it is

What is Corporoplastia / Clitoroplastia

A technique for reshaping the corpora cavernosa in the context of genital reconstruction.

Corporoplastia / Clitoroplastia was developed for situations requiring reduction, reshaping or repositioning of erectile structures.

Although the terms are related within the reconstructive approach, their application depends on the anatomical context and the indication for each patient.

In clitoroplasty, planning specifically involves reshaping the clitoris and its erectile bodies. In corporoplasty, the principle of reshaping the corpora cavernosa may be used in other genital reconstruction contexts.

The technique should therefore be understood as an approach adapted to each case's anatomy and needs, rather than a single standardized procedure.

02Principle of the technique

How the technique is used

Planning begins with detailed assessment of the corpora cavernosa and adjacent anatomical structures.

This analysis defines the extent of reshaping required and the most suitable surgical strategy for each situation.

The aim is to perform reconstruction while respecting structures important for:

  • Sensation

Preservation of structures involved in sensory perception.

  • Blood supply

Maintenance of the blood supply needed for tissue integrity.

  • Function

Planning reconstruction with consideration for the functional characteristics of the structures involved.

The extent of intervention varies according to anatomy, indication and the complexity of each case.

03Indication

Assessment and indication

The indication is individualized and should be defined after specialist assessment.

Planning may consider genital anatomy, development of erectile structures, tissue quality, previous interventions and the goal of reconstruction.

04Risks and limitations

Risks and limitations

As with any genital reconstruction surgery, there may be risks involving healing, blood supply, sensation, asymmetry, contour changes and the need for additional procedures.

Progress and results vary between patients and depend on anatomical characteristics and reconstructive complexity.

The technique, its limitations and available alternatives should be discussed individually during surgical planning.
