American doctor visits CEDIMI

The president of the American Academy of Pediatrics said he was impressed by the quality of the research carried out at the center.

On November 14, the Center for Childhood Micturition Disorders (CEDIMI) at the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health received a visit from the president of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The program began with a presentation of studies developed by undergraduate and postgraduate students who are part of the center.

The meeting promoted the exchange of knowledge between the students and the guest professor, who was impressed by the quality of the work presented: "This is a unique center in the world that develops research and care in urinary disorders in a multidisciplinary way, with medical students, physiotherapists, doctors, physiotherapists and nurses".

The meeting was led by Cedimi's coordinator, Ubirajara Barroso, and was also attended by the Psychology course's intern coordinator, Ana Aparecida Braga, and CEDIMI's physiotherapist, Maria Luiza Veiga, as well as students.

"Bringing people like Dr. Andrew Kirsch here to Cedimi breaks down a barrier that is sometimes illusory, a distorted view that there is a difference between what we produce here and what is produced in the rest of the world. In fact, when we bring these people here and put them in such close proximity, showing them the work we do, I think it levels the playing field with other international reference centers," says Dr. Ubirajara Barroso.
