Dr. Ubirajara Barroso Jr.

A pediatric urologist trained at the Children's Hospital of Michigan (Wayne State University, Detroit), he is recognized nationally and internationally. He is the author of more than 150 scientific articles published in the world's leading journals, and is the editor of two books on pediatric urology and has written dozens of chapters in other books. He holds a PhD in Urology from the Federal University of São Paulo, is a CNPq level 2 researcher and currently occupies chair number 28 of the Bahia Academy of Medicine and is a member of the Bahia Academy of Sciences. He specializes in complex reconstructive surgery of the penis, urethra, bladder and kidney.

He is a Professor of Urology at the Federal University of Bahia and is currently head of the Urology Service and Discipline at UFBA. He is an Adjunct Professor of Urology at the Bahiana School of Medicine and at the institution's strictu sensu postgraduate program, having trained several masters and doctors. He coordinates a postgraduate fellowship program in pediatric urology and urethrogenital reconstructive surgery, which has trained several urologists throughout Brazil.

He was head of the Pediatric Urology Department of the Brazilian Society of Urology on two occasions, President of the Brazilian Society of Urology - Bahia Section (201-19 biennium) and is President-elect of the School of Urology (2021-23 biennium). He has given lectures in Brazil and in various countries around the world.

He is Associate Editor of Frontiers of Pediatric Urology and a member of the Editorial Board of the Brazilian Journal of Urology. He is a reviewer for several international journals such as the Journal of Urology, Pediatrics, Nature Review in Urology, Journal of Pediatric Urology, Plos One, European Journal of Pediatrics, Neurourology Urodynamics, among others.
