Scientific Event discusses Urinary Disorders in Children with Debility

Did you know that children with mental disorders are more prone to urinary disorders such as incontinence, urine retention and the resulting infections?

In order to discuss the subject with pediatricians, psychologists, physiotherapists and nurses, in partnership with the Bahiana School of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Ubirajara Barroso Jr. brought to Salvador Dr. Anne Wright, Secretary General of the International Children's Continente Society (ICCS), who spoke about urinary alterations in children with psychological dysfunctions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism and other behavioral disorders in addition to Down syndrome.

The International Scientific Event, whose theme was "Urinary Disorders in Children with Debility", - in addition to featuring a lecture by Dr. Anne Wright, who is also responsible for the Evelina London Children's Healtcare Bladder Dysfunction Service - opened up space for an exhibition of the advances made in research into urinary incontinence in children, carried out by the Center for Micturition Disorders in Childhood (CEMIDI), in Bahia.

According to Dr. Anne Wright, the work being done at CEMIDI by Dr. Ubirajara's team is excellent, as it brings practical advances in the treatment of urological disorders in children, increasing their quality of life. "I was fascinated by the level of work and resourcefulness of the medical students and research trainees involved in the project," said Dr. Anne, congratulating the whole group on their work.

Promoted under the coordination of Dr. Ubirajara Barroso, and with a certificate issued by the Bahiana School of Medicine, the International Scientific Event was held with the support of the Brazilian Society of Urology (SBU-BA) and the Bahia Society of Pediatrics (SBP).
